With an impressive range of pampering treatments on offer, Absolute Sanctuary stands up there with the very best of Samui’s spas. Take the road from Chaweng to Choeng Mon, and the lane leading to Absolute Sanctuary is just a few hundred metres on the left after you pass Karma Samui. Follow this lane to the very end and you’ll arrive at this lovely place with its sea-views on one side and mountain-views on the other. And the first thing you’ll notice is the absolute peace and quiet out here.
The architecture is stunning. White, brown and orange walls predominate, with brightly coloured decorative tiles and touches of gold here and there creating a most pleasing Moroccan style. And this design follows through into the spa area and the treatment rooms themselves. Of which there are six open-air salas for Thai massage and four air-conditioned suites for everything else.
The wellness host will happily guide you through the extensive list of treatments, and is an expert at designing tailor-made packages to suit your individual needs and requirements, should you so desire. And these treatments are carried out by anatomically-trained therapists who have all been through the prestigious ChivaSom and Thai Lanna academies. Jurlique, the world-leading Australian skin-care creams are used for the facial packages (of which there are seven) and lots of the other natural products used, such as turmeric, lemon-grass and aloe vera, come from Absolute Sanctuary’s very own herb gardens.

The signature massage treatment – Tropical Indulgence – promises to: “Relax you into bliss with our four-hand massage whilst two therapists work together in a synchronised rhythm and pressure to soothe out all your tension knots and lull you to sleep.” And it delivers!
And, finally, we come to the detox. There are three-, five-,
and seven-day programs ranging from full fasting to light vegetarian meals involving daily colon hydrotherapy sessions (if desired), detox drinks, nutritional supplements, and yoga classes. And newcomers are welcome to go for the One-day Detox Sampler to see what it’s all about. Plus there are various rejuvenation packages also available. And with eight private colon hydrotherapy rooms, three full-time trained nurses to assist, and a resident wellness consultant – Dr. AlisterBredee – from the UK, Absolute Sanctuary runs a highly professional service.
