Take a deserted tropical beach, add a chic new boutique resort, then include an absolutely lovely beachfront restaurant and a totally charming spa, and what have you got? The answer is simple – Mimosa Resort & Spa.
And, as you may have already guessed, it’s the Mimosa Spa part that I’ll be concentrating on. But, first, let me tell you where it is. As you’re heading on the ring-road from Maenam towards Nathon on the north coast, the clearly sign-posted concrete road on the right leading down to it is a few hundred metres further on from the turning for Napasai Resort, in Ban Tai
Just follow this small road straight down to the ocean at the end and take the sandy lane to the left for two hundred metres. The resort (you can’t miss it as it’s practically the only building down here) straddles this track with Mimosa Restaurant and the infinity pool (with massage sala) beachside on the right and the open reception, accommodation and spa to the left.
Mimosa Spa is, quite simply, lovely! Step through the wooden doorway and across the lily-ponds on either side and you’ll be enchanted by its unique charm. The theme, as you may expect,
is mimosa – but not the flower. One of the 2,400 varieties of this plant has a namesake in Ancient Asian mythology. And ornate paintings and carvings of this deity form an integral and very
pleasing part of the design and décor of the spa. That along with a carved Thai zodiac wheel which also indicates whether your astrological sign is earth, air, fire or water. And that becomes
relevant when you choose your treatment(s), as several of them can be individually aligned to these elements.
There’s a bright and airy reflexology/foot-massage room encased in floor-to-ceiling glass windows on the ground floor alongside the spa reception, with a Thai massage area upstairs. And with just one full-treatment suite, complete with floral bath/ Jacuzzi and shower/steam room, also upstairs, there’s definitely a feeling of exclusivity and privacy here that’s not always apparent in bigger spas. Plus there’s always that beachside sala for an open-air Thai massage by the pool.

There’s a good range of spa treatments and packages available at Mimosa Spa, including the outstanding 6-hour Mimosa Heaven Treatment with its steam bath, body-scrub, Jacuzzi, aroma massage, element-food set-lunch, facial massage
and foot massage, which is guaranteed to leave you feeling totally rejuvenated and revitalized.
And, with leading brand spa products, such as the worldfamous Jurlique and Thailand’s renowned Panpuri, used in the
treatments, you can be assured of quality here. That goes for the staff, too, as they perform their skills at the highest level.
Of course, you can visit Mimosa Spa for just a basic massage. But I’d thoroughly recommend that you take your time a bit here and made an afternoon of it. The restaurant’s excellent and you have full access to the infinityedge pool and unspoilt beach, too.
