This spa definitely has it. It’s not just the contemporary-styled treatment rooms. Neither is it only fabulous setting. And nor is it, singly, the thoroughly professional therapists. No. What makes Pandanus Spa such a special place is a combination of all these things – and a whole lot more, besides.

Coming from Chaweng on the ring-road, take the second turning on the right after Zazen Boutique Beach Resort, in Maenam. Follow this concrete road for a kilometre and at the very end you’ll come to Ban Laem Sai Resort & Spa. And although the new resort is absolutely beautiful, it’s the ‘& Spa’ bit that I’m going to tell you about.

Set on a small hillside opposite the resort’s open lobby you’ll find Pandanus Spa. And the Spa Manager – will be there to welcome you. She’s something special, too. Having an
extensive training and background in the Kingdom’s finest spas, she’s learnt the best of all the massage techniques, and has combined them into one. She’s passed on these skills to her team of therapists, which explains why the treatments are excellent.

Before I tell you more about the services, I want to talk a little more about the spa itself, because it really is lovely. There are just three treatment suites here (so do be sure to book in advance) but they are as spacious as they come. Choose one of the two air-conditioned suites, complete with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and private open-air shower garden and Jacuzzi, or opt for the completely open-air suite and savour the balmy tropical atmosphere totally. There are steam rooms, too, and the whole layout of the spa takes you through stone walkways and small rock gardens with the
local pandanus trees growing everywhere – thus the name!

Back to the treatments again and there’s an extensive range, complete with some interesting packages. Spa experts amongst you will be pleased to learn that Pandanus Spa uses the world-renowned Biology Pier Boutiqueny products for its facials, and all the purists will be happy that many of the natural products come directly from Ban Laem Sai Resort’s huge fruit, vegetable and herb plantation.
And a final reason why Pandanus Spa is such a special place is that the prices are extremely competitive and you really do get terrific value for money here.
